What's the smallest boat that you would put a 37efi on. I wonder if a 16 would handle okay?

If you are stuck to a 16ft length, get a 60" bottom. If there's any way possible, put it on a longer boat.

A 1652 or wider would be fine. My pops has a stock on a 1652, and while there's a limit to how many and how much gear you want to put in the boat, it's fine for 3 and gear. Nothing special, but does fine. A 54 or 60 inch bottom would do better, and be good with a 37efi.

I have a short transom 16.5'x46" Instagator with a hunt deck and I have no problems at all, including water coming over the back end if I come off plane quickly or porpoising. My boat runs great.

What are your plans for it?

My 16 x 48 does fine with the 37 on it. It didn't carry a load well, but that may have just been the 3 blade prop. Other than that, no complaints so far
