Hey guys, I'm in the market for a new boat for my new GTR 37EFi. its on a 16x48 landau right now and its just way to big for that boat, not enough forward weight. So I'm interested in the Phowlers but can't find too much info on them. The boat i want is the 17x50 basic light jon. Extended front deck, two rear seat pods, and a gun box will be the extent of the add ons. Just wondering if anyone has any idea of how this set up will preform? are these hulls as fast as say an Excel or a Havoc with each having the same motor? and if any of your guys own a Phowler any info on it would be awesome! thanks guys

Why are you limiting yourself to that hull?

Definitely call them. I would expect a phowler to perform as good if not better than an excel or a havoc but as stated above there are other options. I think the light jon they sell is a .100 hull. I think a 1848 would perform better than a 1750. If its a light hull it may squat in the ass more with the 1750.

Excel is a fast hull, My 1751 Excel was faster then my 1756 Phowler. However they were not the exact same size but close.

I would still much rather have the Phowler over the Excel, but there are much better hulls then either of those too.

And what would those hulls be and in terms of what do you feel they are better.
I'm considering a new boat for next year -- phowler was at the top of the list as I'm looking for a light hull but strong in the 1852 area. I have had, GD, Alweld MUD, and Prodigy....alweld MUD was the best for my purposes in hard bottom marsh.
Would like your opinion on what else to consider. Thank you.

Alumacraft 1648 , Not better , but a lot cheaper. You can get three hulls for what a Excell or a Phowler cost. And out run either with the same power. Been there done that. I put my money in the motor. Cheap Jon boats are easy to find, and if you tear em up doing something stupid, you don't have to get a lien against your property to replace it. IMO

We can recommend a hull that will perform very well with that motor. We have a fair number of customers running GTR's and our boats will get every ounce of performance from your motor.

There are faster boats with a light load, we are not about speed empty, we load our rigs down and carry way more then we should. When you start adding the lbs to the hull that is where our boats shine. We don't pretend that our boats will do things they can't, single engines in MM still have their limits, but we know what our boats will do with a given motor and a given load. We will build whatever size a customer wants, but not without telling them the pro and cons of performance first.

I am currently running a Phowler Extreme 1860 with a GTR 37efi. I wouldn't change a thing, built very strong and performs great. I highly recommend The Phowler Boat Company, they will work with your every need/want to get you a boat you desire. If I had to do it again, hands down I would choose Phowler. Two guys and 3-4 dozen decoys plus other gear, I was jumping between 29-30mph. You wouldn't be disappointed in your choice with them, boat pairs up well will the GTR.

I'd buy from Phowler again. Although I doubt I'll live long enough to need another one. They build a very rugged hull that they plan to stand behind.
