Recently got a gator trax 1862 big water edition with (2) mudbuddy 37efi's. AMAZING machine. However, when making sharpish turns at speed it is crazy hard to turn the motors back straight. It literally takes a full grown man with two hands to inch the steering wheel back over. Lucky we didn't run it onto ground and figured out to slow waaay down on the turns, but it just doesn't seem right. At low speeds its not bad with small turns but again if you get close to a full turn it becomes very hard even at idle. Anyone with experience in remote steer and specifically dual motors that can verify if this is normal? If so any trick to help? Trim up / down? power down? just don't turn? If normal what causes it? too much torque from motors? |

Is it not hydraulic steering? If not, thats what you should buy. |

It is hydraulic but it doesn't feel like it . Not sure exactly what's on it and it is currently back at the shop. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

and the round chines of a gator trax should help in the turns. I would give a call to your dealer. One of those knobs that can be put on a steering wheel may help too. |

I got duals. Were you trim it will affect how hard it is to turn. Sometimes it takes both hands to pull it back strait. I have a crazy knob on mine and can usually operate it with one hand on the throttles and one on the knob but it depends. If you get in a jam if you drop the throttle on the inside of the turn and leave the other wide open it will help it turn sharper. Also letting off the throttles makes it easier to get back strait. |

No issues with a 24x60 dual Prodrive, with hyro steering. Never requires 2 hands. Ever. |

Sounds like a problem with your steering. Hydro should be easy to turn no matter what motors you have on the back. |

Even tiller single motors are tougher to pull back strait one way than the other. With two motors its twice as bad. Even with hydro steering it's noticeable. That's why they only recommend hydro steering. |

I had a single engine GTR console rig at my shop that had an extra hydraulic pump to assist in steering. Maybe its just needed with the belt drives since they are harder to steer to begin with. |

20x72 dual 37 EFI GT here with hydraulic steering. I have had zero issue. I can turn my rig with 2 fingers |

The electric assist pump helps the Longer outdrive motors by a lot. It is not needed, BUT it is POWER steering vs a mechanically driven helm that pushed fluid to the cylinder. |

The guys at gator trax put a "stronger helm" from what was originally installed which should help out. I'll let y'all know once I get a chance to try it out. Also plan on getting a steering knob as well. Thanks for the input. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
