I have a 1644 gatortrax guide. It has a 21" transom.. When new I ment for the battery to ride in front, due to nose catching water I moved it to the back.. Now that my motor is a stage 2 I found at 3750 rpm range my nose starts digging an by 4100 rpms I'm getting sprayed from the nose of boat digging in flat glass type open water.. I worked my hooks out, still nothing.. My research is prodrive calls for 19.5" transom? I will call tomarrow an confirm that. My question is... if I lower my transom "professionally" will it help me pick my nose/bow up some..? From my figuring if I lower motor I can trim higher to get motor to push more forward then as is pushing upward on transom making the boat plain out to much to where my nose digs.. Clear as mud? I'm basically lowering motor where my shaft is as horizontal and even with bottom of boat kinda like the gtr. Will that 1.5" help my trim pick up front of boat any? Thanks guys! |

No need to call, it's 19.5". It's only going to help. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk |

Owen, thanks for the reply, would you think I could get a little lift out of my bow if I did subtract 1.5"? |

it should help out. just make sure not to overdo it else the boat will plow down in the stern |

You would probably be much happier with the x series and run around 32 mph. |

Yea..I'm plowing water at 30. I think the x series would be my best solution |

Had a 36 on a 1644gd and admit it was less than ideal. Pissed me off running slow due to the back riding low but ran great wo but I only had head work. And transom was 19.5. |

It killed ducks but drafted too much in the back for my liking |

See I never could carry a load, my pd always pushed the hell out of that hull, but I could never get the bow up enough to ever get on plane when running with 6 people in it...(crazy I started out with 3 frogging ended up with a extra ice chest 3 extra people an still keep in up with a 23 mini mb running but never got on plane pushing water like a torpedo stock pd. |

But I can live with my load carrying, I normally run empty alone... just wish I could stack more stuff like my battery an yeti up front to balance my load while running wide open an idle when shallow Just need to have the capability to lift the nose. |

Problem resolved... Took out hooks from transom 8"forward till my double bottom started, looking under the boat you can see all the ribs till the last 8" r so...it kinda rides on a somewhat pad now... need weight in front finally! picked up 2-3 mph... Still want to experience with prop to lower rpms by bout 400. |

Now, if you still want to try and get more out of it, drop it to 18". PD doesn't want you to, but at 18", the cavitation plat will be approx. 1/8" under the hull when its in reverse, instead of having the cav plate hit and scare the transom. That extra inch also gives you a little more reach in thick vegetation and muck when trying to dig out of a bad situation. The 18" also allows the drive angle (which sucks IMO) more of a forward thrust than an angled thrust. Been having mine at 18" for over a year. |
