 Flooring expanding and making noise
Has anyone else experienced their floor expanding from the heat of the sun and getting wavy which cause it to be noisy when you walk on it? I welded mine every 12 inches on each floor rib but it still seems to get wavy in the hot sun. Kinda goes when you start running and the air cools it. My floor is 0.080 5052. I think I'm gonna try to peel up my matting and put in some countersunk rivets every 3 or 4 inches in between the welds.

Yes, on my old tracker and Lowe flat bottoms I did. Never on the new boat. Not so much as a squeak. Hot, cold or large waves still quiet for 4 years. So far so good.

Re: Flooring expanding and making noise
You might have foam under your floor that could support it. I think the 2 part stuff would kinda bond it. In retrospect, knowing this, I would have made holes for spot welds every 4 inches. Oh well, first boat build, now I know. I think the rivets will work fine. I welded the shit out of everything else, it's jam up jelly tight and feels great even when pounding some big wake.

Re: Flooring expanding and making noise
Haha yea sounds funnier now that I'm reading it.. Yea I have 2 Rule 1500's as well for the same reason. No problems with this hull I just built it. I posted a thread a few days ago on it. viewtopic.php?f=4&t=66815The boat is awesome, just annoyed with myself that the false floor was bowing up in between the spot welds when it got hot. Here's some pics of the ribs and hull, they aint going nowhere...

Here's the false floor, you can kinda see where I spot welded it. It's worse between those 2 side gun boxes, which is the largest flat area so kinda makes sense.

Re: Flooring expanding and making noise
you are gonna lay down hydro turf right? glue the floor to the stringers with some semi permanent adhesive and rivet or spot weld it. it should help keep it from moving and making too much racket

Re: Flooring expanding and making noise
The boat is done and the floor is in and I have turf'd it with the Sears matting. I'm gonna try to peel up the mat in the area between the 2 gun boxes and just drill every 3 or 4 inches to install rivets. I spot welded it already when I built it. Problem is I only spot welded every 12 inches and looking back wish I had done every 6 inches. I think when I welded in the gun boxes I may have introduced a little waviness in that area cause the back part behind the console doesn't make noise.

Re: Flooring expanding and making noise
The reason it's doing that is because the floor material is too thin.
I run .100 in all of mine and don't have much problem. Then again, most of my braces in the bottom end up being about 6" on center

Re: Flooring expanding and making noise
I think your right, 0.080 might have been a little on the light side. It doesn't feel bad walking on it at all so I think the rivets will do the trick. I was trying to stay light weight since my hull is a one piece .160 thick sheet.
