Did a bit of digging on here, but didn't find what I was looking for. My xtreme GatorTail was painted with rustoleum by the previous owner. I can't stand it, looks like chit...below the side crimp has rubbed off quite a bit. The factory coat is in good shape. I would like to preserve the factory coat and remove the rattle can coat. I grabbed an sos pad and it is doing a pretty good job with removing the khaki color, but the brown and black sucks. Taking forever, but not hurting the base coat. Looking for some suggestions here fellas. The last boat I did had a OD green base coat and the final camo product turned out great. Hoping to replicate that with this rig. Any strippers to aid in the process?

Probably easier to just strip it all the way down.

Scuff if and spray another base over what you have.

Laquor thinner will take it right off. Be careful it might soften or even take off the factory paint. Try it in a inconspicuous spot first.

Aircraft stripper / navel jelly take it right down to the metal.

Maybe goof off. I don't know if it will pull off the base coat but I know it will take the rattle can off

Well after a bit of elbow grease, a few beers and some graffiti remover, most of it is gone. Graffiti remover worked well, but I left it on/tried too big of an area and it bit into the base coat in a few spots. Hosed it off and then wiped it down with some acetone. Now on to figuring out which stencil and pattern to get. Made my own shadow grass last time I repainted my Jon boat, huge pain to cut all that. Redleg? Styx? Also, any one know the GatorTail grey paint code? Guess I could take something off my motor for color match....
