PD rear ended on trailer-longitudinal rib question
Was hit last Monday while towing my 1754 PD, slight bowing in of transom and I am wondering if there is any damage to the welds along the longitudinal ribs underneath the false floor. Any ideas how this could be checked? How difficult to pull off false floor? Would you definitely have the transom replaced even if the bend is barely noticeable?

I'd have it replaced if it were me. The false floor is held down by rivets. Not hard to remove. What makes you think the stringers are damaged?

With it taking a hit that hard on the trailer and knocking the winch off the front of the trailer I was concerned that you may have some damaged welds on the stringers. I guess if there were any hooks on the hull you would have some idea

Re: PD rear ended on trailer-longitudinal rib question
1. get a 3/16'' drill bit and a drill. 2. put drill bit into drill. 3. tighten up chuck on drill so drill bit is tight in chuck on drill. 4. ensure you have the drill directional switch in the correct position so it will drill holes and not just spin. 5. look at the inside on your boat, climb on up in there and stand in your boat. the piece of boat that you are standing on is the floor, every rivet holding the floor down needs to be drilled out and then the floor will lift up.
if you have a center counsole or some crazy rigup it will be harder to do.
if somebody hit your boat, u need to bring that mofo to wherever u bought it and tell them to fix it or replace everything and send the person who ran into you the bill. u shouldn't have to do anything yourself. if that boat is bent any, u will need to make that bastard that hit you replace everything because that boat is now junk. you will never be able to resell it and get any money for it. if you didn't get a accident report and all that, probly just go buy some ky, cause u will be needing some. hope it don't come to that.
good luck.

If it wasn't your fault and they have insurance get a new boat fuck that. My gen 2 Pd was destroyed during teal season last year because of some jackass. Thanks to Safeway insurance I only came out of pocket a little bit for my gen 4.

Damn sure use their insurance to get yours fixed or replaced. That's what it's for.

Re: PD rear ended on trailer-longitudinal rib question
ha yes, thanks for the input. Been going through their insurance, but it's going to be tough to get them to come out on a replacement boat. They're already replacing trailer and motor and I'd rather not have it totaled, because they don't pay replacement value and their payments on claims are for actual (depreciated) value. Erie insurance. It is BS because I didn't do anything wrong and may have to compromise on the transom in exhange for a replacement motor vs. replaced lower unit. We'll see how an Gen IV runs vs Gen III.

I would take it to PD and let them fix it. I would not do any of the work myself. Let PD send them a value for the boat.

I'd do the same as Krazo said. It's not like you backed into them. Buying you a new boat is a lot cheaper than unnecessary doctor bills and lawsuit settlements that a lot of folks get.

I'm not sue happy in any way, shape, or form.....but you need to tell those bastards your back and your neck is starting to hurt real bad due to the accident. They want to play hard ball, hell...play too. I bet they will get right on the boat and you can carry on. You get a courtroom full of insurance people and lawyers, you got a room full of crooks.

Re: PD rear ended on trailer-longitudinal rib question
You shouldn't have to compromise a damn thing if you were the one that got ran into. I just went thru all of this in April when I wife's truck got ran into. Don't be happy with anything less than your boat repaired CORRECTLY. Or replaced. Keep them aware that you were the one ran into and if their customer/policyholder didn't run into you, that you wouldn't be on the phone with them. Don't necessarily play victim, but don't just eat whatever bullshit they dish to you about value etc. Make them take care of it how you want it.
