 Tired of weeds growing in my boat! Usually I'm up in the engine or lower unit section. Today I was beat so I hit the boat section. My boat is a 96 GD 1856 and works perfect for me. It has always been stored uncovered outside all these years. Now that I have sold all my hot rods and bikes all I can work on is my boat. Since it's stored outside (bow tilted up) I have a collection of di-comp at the floor edges growing weeds and even had a tree starting. I'm sure the foam is water logged and figure I'm pulling more weight than when new. Thinking about taking up the floor boards and gutting the foam, may leave the bow flotation. I also thought to reinstall using S.S. button head socket screws for the future.
Powered by a 2007 36 PD and usually just me and the lady as I lost my lab.
So do I leave it alone and just use round-up on the weeds or gut it?

Take the rear pods out too.
I've taken over 200lbs of wet foam out of the floor of a godevil boat more than once.

Re: Tired of weeds growing in my boat! I just gutted my boat, you can view pictures in this forum under "removing foam", good luck, use a pressure washer to blast the foam out, cutting it/ prying it out will take eons.

Re: Tired of weeds growing in my boat! was it injected foam, or the white styrofoam style? the foam in my boat was similar in nature to 'great stuff' and it was a monumental task removing it from the bow and hunt deck. Either way, congrats on getting it eliminated easily.

If you’re going to take some foam out, you might as well take it out the bow too. Its going to sink either way, might as well make it lighter.
Can't say I've ever had a tree grow in my boat.
