Post subject:  Problem getting .125 5086 Aluminum

I know a lot of folks on this forum know boat builders, or build them. I have called all around my area and you would think an easy find but no. I'm looking to make some changes to my 1856 GD (1996) and need 2 pieces 6" X 36" 1/8 thick. I have sheets of 1/8 but not 5086 and since I use it in salt water only I want to go that way. Any suggestions, or leads.
Thanks much, Wayne

Hey, I'm in North jersey. Try r.s. Philips supply. They're a little west but they do carry alot of material.

I'm sure someone would ship you some.

Order from onlinemetals.com or somewhere like that. They're a tad high, but shipping is usually reasonable. There are some other sites that may be a bit cheaper.

Np. They've done me right in the past with a couple orders. Glad it helped.

What are you trying to do with it? Close in a tapered transom? If not, You don't need 5086 if you're not doing anything to the bottom of the boat. 5052 is great for anything else and much cheaper.
