 1648 w/ 14HP mud buddy So I'm only getting 10.4 mph if I'm lucky out of this thing. And that's only when I trim all the way down in open water. Won't "surface drive".
It's an old 86 alumacraft but I should at least get 15 I think.
Prop is worn so this is a possibility.
Or is it just not enough HP for this boat.

Re: 1648 w/ 14HP mud buddy Big boat for a tiny motor. Speed hardly ever matches rated HP, even when the motor is on a properly sized boat. For that motor, you would probably be better off with a 12x48 or 14x40 boat.....to get you up around 14-15 mph.

Re: 1648 w/ 14HP mud buddy What sucks is the power to weight ratio. A 23 hp weighs only a couple pounds heaver than this motor
