If you're referring to new, backwater and beaver tail both offer 26.5hp. No 27hp. Both are kholer and i would say the only difference is .5hp. But if i had to choose I would still go with backwater even tho it would be .5 less hp

The difference is the frame. And there are a few differences. Go check out the websites, you'll notice them fairly quickly

I was skeptical, after 30 years of both GD and MB LT's, of the BW design...not any more. More adjustment points, beefier and less vibration frame, less greasing required, great CS! Not saying that GD does not have good CS, which they do, but this platform is better. So far my 26.5 EFI is great starting and power curve transition is smoother, and I am using less gas! My 1648 grizzly hull is less than ideal but the combo works well enough. Now with a true flat bottom mud hull, I would be really set.
