I am going to put gator glide on the bottom of by gator tail 1854 extreme. Its a open floor boat. I can remove the engine and battery and flip it over to paint the gator glide on or just pick the boat up and suspend it from a hoist and paint the bottom. Question is , Is it worth the hassle pulling the gtr 35 off to pain the bottom |

I suspended mine with a hoist and rolled it. It went quick and easy. |

I do both. If you have a way to safely flip it, it will be easier to sand , clean and apply. But like pas tout la said it not that tough from underneath either. Always leave yourself a way out if your lift system fails. I use 5 gal buckets full of sand with a 4"x4 "and or a 30 drum |

I will be doing this as well when my 1750 is finished being build. I want to suspend it but do you guys have any suggestions as to where to connect the straps... IE.... what fitting will hold the boat with the 4400 HDR on it without putting straps under the boat where I will be painting.... I was thinking of lifting the stern off the trailer and drive the trailer forward so the bow of the boat would be held up by the back of the trailer. I have a 6k winch system so the winch isn't in question,,, just where to put my connections on the boat to lift the sucker..... any advice? |

Only takes a few minutes to pull a motor off the boat. I flipped mine upside down and backward on the trailer so I could still move it around in the yard to get good sun on it to cure the first day or two. I'm due for some fresh GG after the season is over myself. |

Is GG beneficial for small boats, say under 13'? |

Put it on my brothers pirouge. He said it worked real nice for sliding off cypress knees. Only thing he doesn't like is when he almost bust his ass getting into it on bank, It will slide out from under him. |

To the guys that have flipped their boat... I have a 1754 open layout. Do you think a few guys will be able to flip it or would i need an engine lift or something to flip it? |

Figure with nothing in the boat on 600 pounds. Could be more or less, but not much less if built decent. Plan your help accordingly. |

I had a work truck with a 6Klb crane. Flipped it easy. Then re rigged and picked the whole boat up and sat it on the trailer upside down. I'm sure if your method of hoisting the boat is stationary, you can just pick it up off the trailer, roll the trailer out, flip it and pick it back up and set it back down on the trailer. I did this so I could move the boat while letting the GG finish curing. |

Old timer engineer made this to flip his 17' by himself. Said he was in his 70s and stood 5'4'. He also said "use your head instead of your back, Its just that simple!" . I thought it was pretty cool! |
