 CC mud boat question
Ok so I am going to have a guy build me a boat in April time frame. I hunt in restricted hp areas so I'm going with a 25 big block w/reverse . I do not hunt a lot of vegetation or tight spots . I am going to use this boat for duck hunting and wade fishing both. I was origanlly going to go 1648 including the hunt deck. I have this idea now on how a small center console like gtr tail uses would be in a boat like this . I know it's a smaller boat . What do yall think ? What's the smallest size boat yall would ever put a real small center console in . If I did go center console would yall keep it a 1648 or change size up . I do plan on doing some mods to this motor later . Thanks for any input .

 Re: CC mud boat question
That motor is the same block as the 37, which is heavy. Longer boat will help offset the weight. I personally would not go less than 17 for sure, and would go longer if possible.

 Re: CC mud boat question
I had a 16x48 CC 36 Prodrive. I loved it. But it was a little short and a little narrow. I also had a custom CC made and it was wider than normal. But it was a fast boat and easy to make long runs.

 Re: CC mud boat question
A side console wouldn't be a bad option for more floor space in a boat that size.

 Re: CC mud boat question
Man I thought about a side console but I just don't really like the looks . I don't mind giving a small space up for comfort . How do you like your console rig compared to your old tiller . I know you can work a tiller better but I'm never in anything real serious moat of the time . Just shallow marsh

 Re: CC mud boat question
I went from tiller, to CC, back to tiller. And I am definitely going back to CC or Stick steer.

 Re: CC mud boat question
I'll never go back to a tiller.
Unless its a long tail, or a small refuge boat.

 Re: CC mud boat question
My pops runs a 48" wide with a cc and theres plenty of room to move around . I'd go 17+ feet though. Short and skinny will be a turd with any kinda load.

 Re: CC mud boat question
The longer boat will do better than you think. Especially if you have any weight in the boat. Smaller boat may be slightly faster when empty, but it will be a turd when you start loading it down. The longer boat will have a better chance of still getting on plane and running at a decent pace.
