OK wondering if people put gas tank and battery under hunt deck if so how far down does your hunt deck drop from normal sides /Normal height of the transom |

It all depends on who built the boat and the dimensions of the hunt deck. The largest battery i've seen in hunt decks are series 24 and those are a tight fit. Other manufacturers have their hunt decks bulk headed off and foam filled. My rig is a commercial hull and doesn't have any foam period. But to fit a battery in the hunt deck is tight. I started out with it in there and decided it was a pain in the ass to get to and service so I moved it. The only thing in there now are twin 1500 gph bilge pumps and a Jr. system. My 13 gallon fuel tank is under the front deck extension. Batteries are mounted under the false transom/catwalk in the rear of the boat. Works fine. |

It sounds like if he makes it so the battery and gas tank would fit the hunt deck will only drop down 3 inches not that it's a real big deal I guess just wondering if anybody else had a set up like that |

My Alumitech has 2 batteries under the huntdeck in battery boxes and 2 1500gph bilge pumps. My gas tank is up front under the extended deck. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk |

For the life of me, I still can't figure out the advantage of a hunt deck over just buying a bigger boat with the small exception of a "step" to get into the boat from the rear. |

Look cool on the trailer and a place to stand when releaving yourself, choking the chicken, pumping bilges, or taking a piss. Or what ever you want to call it, with out some over beered person urinating inside the boat, ![]() |

Keeps mud and water out of the boat when hammering down in reverse. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk |

I literally was sitting at the desk of a Gator Tail salesman at the Gator Tail HQ and I asked them "Tell me the flat out advantages of having one." , I have had a mud boat without one for 4 years and I was ordering a new boat. And they sat back in their chair and kinda chuckled and said "Other than not getting water in your boat when you go in reverse, they just LOOK cool. That is the selling point. People think they look cool." Even after this, my new boat invoice had the "Drop Deck" box checked off. Just because they look cool. I honestly think its easier just to roll over the side of the boat instead of using the hunt deck. |

That's what I thought. If I had the coin, I'd go with an extra foot or two of boat space before I added 2 ft of unusable aluminum on the back of my boat just because it looked cool. Don't know about some of you guys but I can still pee from the side of my boat and keep it from getting inside. ![]() ![]() |

I got 24" sides and a hunt deck, summer coming, will let ya'll know if after a trip or two to the rope swing down toward caddo lake if its better or ??. But it looks cool and gives me a place to lay tools when working on or changing oil on motor. |

For me personally I would not have a reversing motor without a huntdeck. Never thought they looked particularly cool. I do like the fact that I do not flood the boat when I am in reverse. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk |

I would for sure try to fit the batteries, bilge pump and gas tank under the hunt deck. My Gtrax with hunt deck likes the weight more mid ship to rear also (I have the 7.2 gal gas tank in the stern just in front of the hunt deck). All I do is duck hunt out of my boat and the hunt deck is worth every penny! SO much easier to get in and out of with waders on (even in deeper water). So much easier for the dog to get in and out (and a place where they can sit while hunting). Also keeps out mud and water both reversing and also when climbing in and out (you and dogs). Great place to kneel on to unclog rice from your prop. Great place to put tools and parts on while working on your motor. And, yes, great place to take a piss. Would never think of a custom mud boat without one. Don't give a crap how it "looks on the trailer" My boat is in the garage for nine months/year and when it is on the trailer, it's at 3:45AM in the pitch black. The only living things that see it are the deer in the ditches I'm praying aren't going to dart out in front of me. What I don't get and glad I don't have one is the front extended deck for duck hunters. Talk about a waste of interior space. But like said my boat likes more weight in the back.... That's the beuaty of a custom boat--you get it the way you want it. |

Gunner I totally agree with you on the front deck mines only going to be 40 inches and I'm hoping I'm going to like the hunt deck |

I've got as short a deck as I could get in front. Then I have a removable deck for when I want to fish. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

My extended front deck is just long enough to cover my gas tank. Also a great place to stash my blind bag and waders. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk |

If it weren't for the rake in the boat, I'm not even sure I'd have a front deck. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
