Post subject: | Catwalk "WIDTH" Question |
Looking at getting 8" catwalks installed on port and starboard gunnels. Now I'm wondering if I should go 10" wide. My thinking is that wider is better. Anybody wish they had wider or narrower catwalks? RH |

Mine are a little over 4" and do just fine. Haven't ever thought I needed more. I only wanted them to be able to mount a ghetto pop up blind. |

Not sure how wide your boat is. I have a 20x54 with a pretty good layout on the sides. I went with 10" catwalks but would have gone 6 or 8 if on a narrower boat. I believe you will be happy with the 8". |

19x54 I ain't no cat so wide ones weren't important. Wide enough to sit on and not to wide to take up room. And also a place to hide wiring going to bow. ![]() |

Thanks for all the feedback. My boat will be 17x54. I will stick with the 8" catwalks. RH |

What is the advantage of catwalks? I've never really understood why you would want them... Help me understand... |

Walking up and down the boat while the floor is covered in duck crap. Place to sit. Bikini butts look good on em Easier to take a shit from. Sides don't flex as bad / boat support Can add trays underneath them. |

I wanted them for wire concealment. They added a ton of strength to the sides as an added bonus though. |

I love the idea of trays underneath. I notice some builders do a ton of them, some don't. What's not to like about trays if you do the catwalks? |

I have the 8'' catwalks and they're definitely wide enough to walk front to back or sit on. I wish I would have just got the welding in rod box or gun box though instead. They can basically be used like catwalks but with the added storage. Would also basically make use of the space underneath the catwalks that I'm not really able to do anything with now besides put lights. |
