I thought my old 18x46 was a canoe, that's narrow. 24" sides, tall and skinny. Ought to get pretty good speeds with a 35/37 hp. What motor you going with?

Seems like the longer, narrower hulls perform better with LTs... I figure it would be a fast rig with a surface drive, and as far as load carrying goes, I don't have that many friends........

Or I mean longtails perform better on longer narrower hulls*

Who did you use as your material supplier, and did you consider having a 1 piece hull bent?

I use discount steel for most of my materials. I was looking at their website last night and it looks like they have a 18' brake. I saw that Gale marine in Galesville Wi. (near Lacrosse) does boat fab work, and has a 20' brake. not sure if they can easily get 10' x 20' materials at a reasonable cost.
Love what you've got started. I think that the tall sides make the bottom look narrower than it actually is. I bet it looks different in person compared to the pictures. Keep the pics comin.

Also, does the bottom taper in width from front to back or does it just appear to in the pictures?

Post subject:  Re: New beginnings

with the 24" sides, will there be a clearance issue with the front of the motor (when trimmed up) and the back bar of the cockpit with having a hunt deck? I assume you will be putting a tall transom motor on it.

Post subject:  Re: New beginnings

No... and since my motor has a tilting tiller even if that fucker comes flying out of the water and the tiller were to strike the false transom, that pivot would protect anything from harm

That being said I might make a transition to a lower height for the false transom for getting in and out easier... but that could always come later

Is your rub rail and bottom bracing 6061? did you bend the rake into your floor bracing your self, and how?

Post subject:  Re: New beginnings

Well Discount steel said their maximum length for a break is 12' and Gale marine said they can make a bend up to 20', but cant bend a one piece hull because the maximum between centers on their machine is also 12'.
How is your build coming? you havent posted any new pics for a while.

That and my motor won't be built till like halfway through April, so I'm not necessarily in any hurry. Spose I could get it done and paint it though.
