Post subject:  My Boat

An old man needs something to keep him busy during our long winters. Last winter I built a new boat and trailer. The fact is my buddy did 99% of the welding on the boat, but I take credit (or ridicule) for the design and all the rigging is mine. It's 18 X 60 and .125 bottom and sides.I built the trailer very stout, to survive our roads, so it weighs just over 1000 lbs. The boat is wimpy looking compared to many designs on MMT, but it handles our rivers and I like the open layout. I got it wet for the first time yesterday and was pleased with how it handled. The trim isn't totally dialed in yet, but I was seeing 25-27mph with 2 people and gear.

It weighs right at 500# with no motor, fuel, batteries or floor. with the ECOTRONS EFI it goes faster sideways than straight ahead. I've had other boats that would slide, but usually dropping the throttle 200-300 rpm would correct the slide. Not this one. If it starts to slide it will continue until I come off the throttle completely. I haven't tried it with a heavy load yet.

Well done! Have you let off and got right back into it yet? Maybe an 18" of 2" angle in the stern. Could always tack it and try. Then gg ;)
