 14X48 Alweld jon boat and a 23 gdsd New to mud motors and looking for input on this boat and motor configuration. Best starting point for battery and fuel tank placement given I'm around 280 lbs myself. Any good advice is appreciated as I set up the boat

Re: 14X52 Alweld jon boat and a 23 gdsd Well with my fat biscuit in the back with the group 24 battery and 6 gallon tank. I learned all but me needs to get out the back and try again once the rain clears out. Wow totally different beast to run then a regular ole tiller outboard.

Re: 14X52 Alweld jon boat and a 23 gdsd There's a chance you may even want to throw some extra weight up front to balance the load. Maybe make up a tool kit/box that you can put in front too.

Re: 14X52 Alweld jon boat and a 23 gdsd Going to make battery cables and hunt for fuel line today so I can move everything up front. So roughly move 75-80 lbs off the back plus still yet to put the 60 lb accessorie/trolling battery in up front. Not planning on doing a lot of muddling just mainly running the amite river from Denham Springs and Darlington.

Re: 14X48 Alweld jon boat and a 23 gdsd slight topic change as i was going off the previous owners description of a 14X52 when its truly a 14X48...On that note what is the thoughts on adding a 18" hunt deck to the rear of the boat?
