Post subject: | Paint Advice |
I bought an aluminum bay boat that has a non slip type paint in the inside, almost like paint with sand in it. It is a very light color and has a number or scratches that I would like to cover with a little darker paint. I will be putting hydroturf on the floors and deck, but would like to give the console, gunwales, and vertical surfaces a face lift with a fresh coat of paint. How would I go about doing that? Can I just clean with acetone, then paint over it? Would I have to have it blasted down to bare metal? |

If you dont need the non skid give it a light sand and wipe down with whatever solvent youll be paining with, acetone will work too. |

Then put GatorGlide on the bottom and life will be good! |

I don't specifically need the non skid (I will be hydroturfing it), but I would rather not have to sand it all. I was hoping that I could just clean the surfaces that I wont hydroturf. Gatorglide is legit, but if I need that on a 20' bay boat with a 150 on it, I'll be in deep shit. I had it on my last boat. |
