I know a TIG weld is a stronger bond, but do manufacturers MIG or TIG their hulls? I my welded hulls have all been stacked dimes (TIG) but I have seen some others that were run with a spool. Are the fabricators that good with a spool here they can stack dimes?

To tig a boat would make it cost to much and be way to slow ,but they are pretty dam good with spool or push pull gun.

ITs all about the operator. MIG is much faster and in most cases just as strong as TIG depending on fit up and thickness. Don't get caught in that nickel lap thing,,,,,, thats all fine and good but like I said, if. a welder has his shit dialed he can put down an excellent bead with great penetration way faster than TIG.

Pulsed mig programs will give a stacked dime look with the speed of mig

Prep has all to do with the look and penetration on alum with tig or mig ..pulse arc mig is the way to go on thin aluminum.pulse Tig will help with warping
