Thinking about adding an Electric Trim tab kit to my duck boat. Has anyone done this? I dont know if they would handle going over logs and mud but I was thinking this could help get on plane a little quicker when loaded with guys and gear. Also by myself the boat gets a little wild and it would be nice to bury the nose a little when it starts jumping.. Let me know what you think.

On a mud motor? If so I think it would kill the flow to your prop like pods do, and they would probably rip off first time you ran over a log or hit a stump wrong

Dumb idea. Get a boat designed to work with your motor and save money in the long run.

Makes sense... I was thinking it would be kinda neat but I was worried they would rip off. Originally I was thinking pods but heard mixed reviews like you stated with hurting the water flow to the prop. Our rivers are down almost 4 feet this year so I'm looking for different options. Most of my spots are in less then a foot of water this year. Good thing is that there's about 4' of muck! If anyone has any other ideas, let me know.

Pretty much guaranteed to tear off when trying to back out of vegetation or deep mud.

I have a copperhead 23 so no reverse. I'll admit some times it would be nice to have reverse.

My boat came with extremely short fixed tabs. Initially, I questioned why the builder installed them. However, over time, i learned that they were helpful for controlling running angle.

Unfortunately, traditional trim tab actuators like bennett, lenco, or volvo are just too fragile for a mud boat application, especially mud boats with with reverse. In addition, unless you are experiencing severe trim issues, it would be hard to justify adding an electric or electric/hydraulic system to a boat used in such harsh conditions.

I agree with others they may be a pain and might not hold up. However, if you still want to try it you can get non powered smart tabs for around $120.
