I recently got a new to me trailer, much beefier than the old one i was running, here's my problem, i dont have a heavy setup, 1648 riveted with a 25hp longtail, the trailer has 2-8ft bunks and the bow roller, i didnt think this would be an issue but something is causing pressure on the bow roller and it has split the seam on the bow of my boat wide open, i need to know whats wrong in my setup and how to fix it asap, Thanks, Jim |

Maybe its the pressure on the roller vs the pressure on the winch? |

Do i not need it tight against the roller? |

My thought is why or how is the boat moving when its pulled tight, do i need supports somewhere else? |

I snug them up but not too much. And i use rear straps to really hold it. I also tie my bow rope around my trailer for a backup plan |

I have rear straps also, im doing it the same way i did on my previous trailer just seems like a need to either spread the pressure out with a board instead of the roller or add a board underneath the bow to keep it all tight |

Is your winch post too high where it's picking the boat up? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I have it set so its a horizontal pull into the roller |

I was having the same problem. Had a crack form right above the bow eye. I got rid of the small bow roller. What I was doing is when loading the boat ( on steep ramps ) I was pulling the boat on the trailer and cinching the winch up tight and the pulling out of the water. Sounds normal but on steep angles the boat is level and the trailer is downward on about a 45 degree angle. When you pull out of the water the winch strap is already tight and gets even tighter when the boat comes down and rests on the bunks. That pressure point finally caused a crack. I also added a board across the bow. This setup looks bulky but has made loading and trailer a lot better. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
