Hi I am looking a buying a Mud buddy 4400 black death efi hdr for my 1651 excel without pods. It has a 25 hp long tail on it now and does not seem to be a problem just slow as crap and Im not very good at driving it in timber.......... and I want a surface drive haha! I think those motors weight about 100 more pounds then the long tail i have now and i was wondering if it would weigh my little boat down in the back to much. Thank you for the help in advance! |

Should be alright, Been running Big Block MBs on my 1648 Alumacraft , for the last 8 seasons without issues, its a tall transom riveted Jon, with the rear seat moved forward 16" for better balance. Currently running a Modified MB 45 HD Sport. |

Thank you guys! I took my boat out last night to test it out with extra weight in it to see how she would do. I put 215 lbs of weights and an extra battery in the back and it seemed to be fine. I have a pic but I’m not sure how to post it on here. |
