Operating Both Trim and Reverse Ram with 1 pump "Review"
Finally got a chance to try out the 12V Hydraulic selector valve. The valve has 6 ports. 2 inlets 2 outlets (Trim ram) 2 outlets (rev ram)
here is a pic of the selector valve. I took a piece of 2x3 aluminum angle and made a bracket for it to mount on. I then drilled 2 - 1/2" holes and mounted the angle to the power trim mount bracket. IMG_2303.JPG
The ports on the valve are SAE8 o-ring fittings.
All of the hoses are custom made to length. There is a hyd hose shop about 2 min from my hose. One thing that I did notice is that on the pump return, there is a orfice fitting. I figure this allowed the trim to slowly come down rather than slam down due to all the weight.

You'll notice the red and black wires. At the top of the valve is a set of fittings. I temp used small gator clips to check to see if the valve is working properly, which it does. I have a waterproof connector that is made for the valve coming in very soon to clean up the wires.

Decided to clean up all the hoses, wire loom and fuel lines.

Few more

Everything was working fine until I had a leak on the ram, which I paln on getting replaced Fri

All in all the system cycles flawless (until the leak). I plan on mounting the simple toggle switch to a light. That way I will know when I'm in reverse or in foward. The way the valve operates is one set of ports is always open. I used that for the trim. Use the same trim switch to operate it as it was before. To operate the reverse ram, simply flip the toggle, the solenoid is energized and thus swapping ports. Now the trim ports are blocked off and the rev ram ports are open. Use the same trim switch to operate the reverse ram. takes a matter of seconds to flip switch and use same trim switch. The light will indicate that I'm in "Reverse Mode". Flip the toggle back down, the light goes out, and its back to normal. the selector valve pulls about 1 amp which is nothing. This setup saved me buku $$$. A new pump was around $600-$700 or more, the valve was $150. No brainer.

How much was the ram. And why would another pump cost you 6 to 7 hundred bucks when the whole trim set up cost 475. Thats the pump, switch and wiring harness and ram. You wouldt need the ram so i cant see the pump costing more then 300.

Isn't PD also working on this, to be able to run both hydro trim and reverse on the same pump? I've been debating whether I want to add the hydro reverse on mine, but really don't want to add the extra pump. Also not sure if they would sell just the ram and hoses without the pump...

I think they are. I drew the idea up a while back. I talked to peck. The kit they were gonna offer would not work with the older pumps. Hydraulics is hydraulics. Fittings are fittings. Didn't see why it wouldn't so I decided to do it my self.

Re: Operating Both Trim and Reverse Ram with 1 pump "Revie
Finally got my ram back. They had to replace the seals. All is good now, but hook everything up and cycled the ram about 10 times. The pump got slower and slower. Trying to prime the lines. The wires to the trim pump got really hot. So I stopped. One thing I thought of if that the trim pump, at least the older model, has an orfice on the down port. I assume that so the motor doesn't just slam down when trimming down. But this might cause me issues from the fact that when going in reverse, the motor has to work harder to flow the fluid through the tiny orfice. Is that needed or can the orfice be removed? I also have a reversing solenoid coming in to help the switch out.
