How do I remove my prop? (Mud Buddy Mini 18)
The guy at Mud Buddy I called today (Micah) said the correct prop for my used/new-to-me 2008 Mini 18 (on my heavy 16" aluminum jonboat) is an 11 x 10, 3/4" hex, part # P-05. I measured the one that's on it today and it's 9-1/2" across. Hopefully the 11 x 10 will give a little more power? Anyway, before I order it I want to remove the old one to make SURE it's a 3/4" hex and not a screw on. So what do I need to remove, just the nut on the end of the shaft, or the big fitting in front of it too? (Isn't that a bearing in there?) The "Prop Removal" page on the Mud Buddy site is confusing--the photos don't seem to match the text, which itself isn't that clear, and one shows a wrench on that big rear fitting.
If mine's in fact a hex, I think all I need to do is remove the little end nut and then tap the prop straight off the hex shaft. To keep the prop from turning when I bear down on that end nut with a wrench, I think I can use a piece of flat bar with a hole drilled in it and slip the end of the bolt through the hole and wedge the bar between the blades to keep them from turning as I crank the wrench.
Am I correct on this procedure? Does the 11 x 10 seem the correct prop? Any ideas as to why there's a 9.5" prop on it?
Here's my current 9.5" prop:

Not sure on the correct size prop but your plan for removing it is correct. They can take a lot of torque and even a little tap or two from a hammer at the same time as you apply pressure with the bar to get started. A lot easier with two guys if it is stubborn at all. Ran into the first one ever last weekend that we absolutely could not get to break free (had been run in saltwater) even with a long bar and large hammer!

Block that prop and be sure to use a cheater pipe with a wrench for the nut... Either that or break it over with an impact... Once you get the nut off that prop should slide off fairly easily... If that prop is wore down to 9.5 that 11x10 is gonna be the ticket (if its the correct prop, not too sure)...

Impact wrench helps a lot.

That prop is a 10x8. If I remember correctly, it is a 3\4-10 threaded and not hex.
