New Belt Squealing like a pig - MB35
So,
changed my belt for the new one and tensioned it to appropriate spec with the MB tension gauge.
at 18lbs - belt was screaming.
at 16 lbs - same thing - not as loud.
at 10lbs - still squealing.
also seems like the belt is not staying in the middle of the top pulley - seems like the belt on the top pulley gets pulled towards the clutch-side and sits snug against it. normal? or is the lower unit causing it to run close to the clutch side of the pulley?
If i cant figure it out - old belt goes back on but frig - brand new belt. hardly had to change the tension from old to new belt. and engaged it squeals quite bad.
BoatDr is likely enjoying dinner - so i reach to you all - what did i forget to do, or what did i do??

Being that the belt has teeth to fit the gear/pulley and you have it tight that tells me that the side the belt is rubbing/squsquealing and that maybe the taper loc on the bottom pulley might have slipped out of alignment on the prop shaft. Or you engine isn't square and need to be shimmer.

If that toothed belt was in fact slipping, it would be making a hellaciousness noise, far from squealing. Id bet money a pulley is spinning on the shaft.

Well....running well again.... didn't change anything, simply tension to 16lbs, bolted it all down, purring like a kitten again.... weird.
Lol
