If everyone got those speeds they would sell many more motors

I didn't read all of this post but enough of it to reply.

I haven't been doing testing with the new 2 blade. I did take the proto type 2 blade at the start of duck season. I was in a center console, 17' X 54", Carburetor 36HP, top speed with 2 guys, 2 full 6 gallons of fuel was 26-27 MPH @ 4,200 - 4,300 RPM's.

Went in some bad stuff, (A place where the others wouldn't even think about going!! :o ) and the prop was awesome. And that was with a carbureted engine!!

This prop was design for the PD Briggs Carbureted, Basic PD EFI & PD EFI E2.

I installed a PD EFI E2 on a Gen 3 this week and test ran it with the new 2 blade today. Center Console, 18' X 48" PD hull. It ran 28 - 29 MPH @ 4,600 RPM's. Went on a mud flat!! And Unbelievable!! :o

The new 2 blade needs a little tweaking for the PD EFI engines but its it's great.

Now this new 2 blade prop needs a little more tweaking for the PD EFI E5 engine. The PD EFI E5 engine has a little to much HP.

4600 rpms needs to be a 31-32 mph setup.

This is another test run I did during the end of duck season.

Was in a 18' X 48" PD Hull, Tiller Handle PD EFI E5, STT Muffler, 3 blade prop ( Yep The 3 Blade) 2 full 6 gallons fuel tanks, one 50 quart K2 full of water and ice!! ;) , one 48 quart full of ice and water!! , My black lab Diesel (85 lbs.), Guns, ammo, camping cloths, etc.

Boat got out the water great and ran 27 - 28 MPH @ 4,580 - 4,600 RPMs. Arrived at the camp, removed about 170 lbs. of weight, and the boat jumped on step & ran 28 -29 MPH @ 4,580 - 4,600 RPM's.

The speed didn't gain much but the load carrying was great. And that was with the 3 blade prop.

The New PD EFI E5 Engine w/ the Performance Program is doing GOOD.

Can a motor last running that high RPM's all the time? It just seems high man

Better to let her run wild than keep her bogged down and over-propped. Read back through some of the posts a few years ago when everyone was trying to build props to keep the motors in the 4k range and how many cracked blocks and blown up motors there were. Lot less of that seems to be going on with everyone turning higher rpm's. If the motor is makin power still, don't try to bog it down. Let 'er eat...

It still happens. Just doesn't seem quite as rampant as it was there for a little bit.

Thanks! Your 18x54 SBX numbers should let me know want I can expect after e5. I'm getting a lot of money into my toy, but fun to take kids hunting and swamp running, so worth every penny.

The boat is for a buddy of mine. It runs wells for a heavy boat and usually stays loaded to the gills.

Not saying your not getting those speeds...

But if you are,,,you should have kept it, cause 99% of the Gen3's are not getting close to the older Gen2's speeds.

Actually, i never seen one that was stock come close. You are the first...

STT, what is the difference between the E2 and E5?

E5 will have an aftermarket camshaft.

Tchauvin... Almost identical result I saw on an 1854 CC SBX hull... Two people, full fuel... 27-28mph @ 4700rpm.. Motor is EFI Gen 3, .050 Heads, Gutted Stock Exhuast.. Definitely needs a bit more pitch.. Now what was impressive with the new 2-blade is the bite down low.. This prop hooks up 10x better than any of the 3-Blades I've run and just jumps outta the hole, which quite frankly was my biggest issue with this boat. I run heavy ALL the time and have been just blowing the 3-Blades out and cavitating like mad down low.

I'm gonna send it to Baggy and have it turned up a bit.

Post subject:  Re: ProDrive 2-Blade Gen 3 Prop

Not much notable difference in top speed for me, maybe 1/2 - 1 mph, but my boat is wicked heavy.. Basically add another adult for the SBX hull weight.. So results above are effectively for 3 people and full fuel.

I've got plenty of power to spin this prop at a higher pitch. Just a little tweaking required. I can't expect PD to make a huge range of props that will include wheels that will be just perfect for all of our different mods and power levels.

Honestly it's a huge step in the right direction for being able to utilize the advantages of the Gen3 lower. This prop hooks up and pulls like a freight train and is very smooth through the whole rpm range. I'm very pleased to have a base to work from, playing with SD props is WAY cheaper than playing with props on my BassCat!

Does anyone have any stock data. Goin from a 3 blade to the 2 blade. And also anyone have any more info about the other prop that zeek was talking about on the first page

Author:  tchauvin [ Wed Mar 04, 2015 5:50 am ]
Post subject:  Re: ProDrive 2-Blade Gen 3 Prop

The data is here....Most dont want to accept it.

The stock 2 blade offers much more bite vs the 3 blade and you might get .5-1mph maybe...stock vs stock.

The biggest diff is it slips much less when taking off and in the lower RPM range. Up on top, its real close.

From what i seen, its a much better setup but dont buy it with expectations of making the 3g run like a 2g....IMO.

First off,,,i dont believe this...Would hope someone would post it.

Second, if this prop does exist,,,,why in the hell is PD not selling it?
