 Re: prodrive skegs....
Its what Ive got to work with.......... I think the gtr with the longer shaft, less shaft angle and lower profile skeg was able to "get a bite" without having the build up problem. So now that I think about it, it is the shaft angle and length that has the most influence on the skeg angle. I think I will cut my skeg really close to the gear housing and bring it as close to the transom as possible without interfering with trim and steering, getting the skeg line as flat as possible.

 prodrive skegs....
The problem comes when you first get on it!! The front of the lower unit is in the water that is when it catches 90% of the trash!! from their on you can't get enough momentum to clean out!!

 Re: prodrive skegs....
First thing its not the knuckle in the shallow that the problem its the round rake on the front the skeg. Its to blunt!
Second cutting your stock skeg closer to the gear housing isn't going to help you because your increasing the rake angle on whats already to short of a skeg!

 Re: prodrive skegs....
I wouldn't classify it as a problem, I have no problem being able to back up make a trench and jump back on top. That my friend is where the modded skeg comes into play. The longer rake and lease angle helps everthing stay moving . In the shallows (even in just duck grass) any of the MM's out there can have this problem. Its due to the skeg trying to forcing the vegitation down into the mud its only going to go down so far until it starts to pile up.
A longer skeg with lease angle helps.

 Re: prodrive skegs....
I was just playing around with the skeg design and the only real fix is about 5" longer in the shaft. I know this could interfere with reverse, but if you spaced the motor back another 4-5" , up a couple inches and adjusted the tiller angle it could be acomplished..... the longer shaft would allow for a more shallow angle on the skeg and extending it past where the current skeg angles up decreases the angle even more.......I guess Im dreaming huh......

 Re: prodrive skegs....
The shaved down skeg definately helps in the grass and also on hard bottoms. Will it solve all the worlds problems? No. Would I do it again? Yes. Check out my review on my boat ,it has a picture of my modified skeg that BB made for me.

 Re: prodrive skegs....
Just got one of those BB skegs in the mail the other day. As soon as the hardwater breaks, it will be put to the test on the sloughs and backwaters up here.
