If/when I order the new one, I plan to have it sent straight to Baggy and tell him what I'm working with. If a gain of 1-2 mph is typical of a stock prop, I'd be happy with a gain of 2-3 with a modified prop after he gets his hands on it. I'm not wanting the world, it's just that I was running 27-28 with a 2007 stock GDSD with 600+ hours and leaky leaky valves, spent $9,000 on a new PD, and dropped to 25 mph... That just doesn't quite sit right with me.

I don't believe it has anything to do with whether it's got a belt or gears. It's in the gear ratio. Belt driven engines have a ratio as well that's determined by the upper and lower sprockets. I could argue that gear driven engines are always faster because that's what race boats have, but I would be wrong too... :?

Keep in mind,,,these engines make more torque then HP.....

So gearing it like a high HP, high RPM engine is beyond me.

I will say that prodrive needs to deal with someone else on props the consistency is way out there there is just as much probs with the two blade being inconsistent as the 3 blade but once there pitched correctly the ew two blade is nice hell I bought a gen 2 prop 1 month ago it sucked compared to original had to turn 4600 to get same speed I was getting at 4300 before

It is crazy to me that the problem with the prop has not been solved yet. Prodrive makes a great product and that prop is holding them back. The amount of people openingly complaining about the prop and speed has to be hurting sales. That is such a good motor. I hate to see the prop and/or gear ratio hurting the reputation. It seems like it would be a simple fix. Adjust the gear ratio and change the prop.

Fuk that old gearing. They better make that an option and not standard on all motors. I'd say that 3/4s or more are more concerned with load carrying rather than speed.

I can tell yall that when I sent my prop to baggys to get 3" of pitch added to it, I was wanting a 15p. It came back 16p. Called him up and he said that my prop was 12.5 almost 13 stock. And because I didn't say I wanted a 15, I said add 3", he did. He told me that the props coming in are all over the place. So he dialed it back to a 14p. Just haven't had a chance to run it.

So the common theme is that the gearing is ok but the prop is terrible on the Gen 3.

Well my buddies gen 3 ran 25/26 empty and with 3 of us a dog and decoys it ran 22. same load in my gen 2 stock would have been 23/24 ,but with all the inconsistent props it's hard to compare cause of the night and day differences .now his motor is modded gen 3 was running 30/31 with two man load burned prop up at wax bought new prop 3 blade only running 28 with new wheel at 4700 empty

I would believe that he has over 350 hrs on his motor never had the valves reseted and still the original prop trying to get him to get his valves check he has a brand new prop just hasn't put it on.

That's me running with 9 gallons gas In a light chop. I also will hold 25 with a 3 man hunt load and my 75 pound dog and all this is with a stock 3 blade on a 18/48 sportsman fab. From the testing I have done the 2 blades are only better for speeds on big heavy boats with a 2 blade on my boat I will run 26-27 lightish. And the gen 3 is better than the gen 2s they pull way more in the bad stuff and handle a load better. If you running a stock motor with the 2 blade you will not have to re work it leave it at a 16 pitch but if you have heads pitch it up to a 17 or 18 and if you have a cam go to a 20 pitch and you should be fine

Actually, the gen3 with stock 3 blade all over the rev limit couldn't cross 28!

Both 2 and 3 blades...with the 2 blade edging it out by a hair.
