Im new to mud motors. Last year I bought a Carstens bluebill boat that has a 5 hp go-devil on it. It seems pretty underpowered and takes forever to get on plane with me (175 lbs) and a small lab and some gear. Since I know nothing about mudmotor props I dont know if mine is worn enough to affect the performance. I measured it and it is about 1/4 inch or so under 7 inches. I see on the go-devil website the props look like they have alot more "lobe" to them. I can post a pic if that would help. So say it is worn out. I plan on getting a new prop, what is the old one worth? Will go-devil take it in on trade? Anyone buy old props and rebuild them? Would it be cost effective to do that to my prop? The old 5 hp is also pretty tired, takes a while to start everytime. I see harbor freight has a 6.5 for $99 and I hear it is a good motor. Anyone ever swapped out the 5 hp briggs for one of the 6.5 honda clones? Thanks for the help guys. |
