Newbie question here guys but I have a 27 HP Beavertail longtail I recently bought, runs great, 5 years old maybe 60 hours on it but wondering how you tell when you need a new prop? Any input would be appreciated! |

you can find out the prop size new and measure your prop then compare the two, if its wore more than 3/4 of an inch i would suggest a new one. There is really no need unless there is a noticeable lack of performance. |

You really don't have to buy a new one. You can get that one fixed. I bring mine to the prop shop here in Lafayette and they will weld it up and bring it back to spec and do any tuning if you want it. They weld it with stelite, which is really hard and will leave a little of the bead showing on the back side of the blade as a tattle tale, so when that wears down you know it's time to bring it back. It's not to expensive either. |
