Post subject: | SD prop on LT |
Has anyone tried a 3-blade SD prop on a LT? I run this set up last weekend while waiting on my new LT prop. I shut it down at 28mph because with the surfacing prop and no giant SD skeg I could not control my direction. This was a very dangerous adventure and I would never do it again, just got me thinking if the LT had enuff skeg in the water to control it would it still be able to dig as deep as it does now. |

What motor and what 3 blade is that? 28 mph on a LT? The sd's have gear reduction to be able to swing a big prop like that, surprised you could turn it that well without. |

35 HP, the blade was from a 35 SD it has about 70hrs on it. It bogged the motor until it worked itself to the top of the water. I run it beside the SD the prop came off of (changed to 2 blade) and could easily run off from him, if I could keep things under control. The motor could not handle this prop all the time, I just wanted to see if I could turn it. Yes, 28mph and I was still picking up speed, I used my GPS and I was the only thing in the boat. I know there will be people that call BS on this, I'm not getting into that. I will put the prop back on, bring your GPS and your check book and we can run it. |

It is a stock 35GD, the same boat(turd) I posted about a few days ago that only runs 22mph with one person. I now very little about SD's this is the first I have run, hopefully I have it set up wrong and it's not a lemon from the factory. |

18x56 GD boat no hooks 3800rpm's it doesn't clear many paths but it has been drug behind the LT more than once, If I stop this rig in the mud (no water) it will not get itself out. It gets stuck in places I idle around with the LT. I have run LT's for years and I'm not impressed with the SD so far, I'm having someone with SD knowledge take alook at it this weekend, hopefully it's a set up issue and can easily be fixed. |
