gotta 25 hp johnson outboard just woundering, in the extreme conditions where i live, it gets vry cold, and when i pull my boat outta the water, what do i need to do as far as getting water out of engine so it doesnt freeze, or is this even a problem |

If you run seafoam in tank . It makes your fuel good up to 60 below. |

tilt it all the way down while its still hot. when i say down i mean tuck it up under the transom. leave it there till the water quits coming out. if you can trailer it there i would, if not drop it back down when you get home. keep it in doors if possible. |

I run my outboard in sub zero weather every year. I always trim my all the way down when I pull it out. After the water stops running out I roll it over a few times to make sure all the water is out. Also when you park it while hunting make sure to leave the lower unit in the water so you don't freeze your water pump to the housing. Have pulled back quite a few with no water pump left. |

yea i know to keep the water pump in but thanks for the advice couple people i know say start it up out of the water then shut it right off and it will get the rest of the water out, dont know if thats true either |

that is correct, dont run the motor dry. as said you will burn the pump impeller quick. these pumps are not water tight. if you lower the motor the water will run out. |

thanks man, good to know i was out on the river last weekend it was bout 15 degrees and i had no problems and i took it back out the next day and it worked great, oh yea and we slayed it on the river had soooo many mallards comming in, good first time out on the boat when 4 guys get there limit |
