Post Welcome to the Props & Lower Unit Forum!
Since we have a lot of prop questions on the site, we've installed this wonderful new forum to talk about it all.

Thanks MudSlinger for the idea!

Post Re: Welcome to the Props & Lower Unit Forum!
New to forum. I have a 10 h.p. Briggs with a home made lower with: 5" upper pulley ,3.5" lower pulley, and 9x6 mud prop.
My problem is that it bogs down when I lower low into water, but hauls ass and then dies. I am thinking besides not lowering so far into water, that my pulleys or my prop pitch is off. I wanted to ask some experienced guys about this. Any????

Try the small pulley on top and big on bottom just to see if it still Boggs down....should have plenty power then, prolly could run it on dry land.

Wouldn't that be less torque? surely that would bog down worse? I can run on very low water now, just cant seem to keep it running well the further the pitch of the motor gets into the water.

Big pulley on bottom increases the torque.
