i see you have 22 posts. i know it doesnt show you time around these motors, but how long have you been useing a surface drive? not being smart just want to know if maybe you dont know exactly how they work. it maybe that your are saying it " spins out" or cavatates as it it surfaceing. if so thats normal. stock the motor will pull very hard and lug down as you get on it from a stop. as you start moving and the rpm's climb and the boat starts to plane. at about that point the prop should start to surface and begin to cavatate. the r's will climb rapidly as should the speed and the boat should plane all at about the same time. the reason i say this is you advised it runs out on top fine. maybe this is not the case. or maybe the boats loaded improperly, or trimed to high to start or its the wrong boat for the motor or or or ..... |

youd have to measure the prop and know what it started out as to know for sure. but as of lookin at it it looks as though it has quite a bit of cup left to it. |
