Post subject:  GD SD 23 Pulling Right

My Go Devil 23 SD has always pulled a bit harder to the right (handle, so technically left), but as of late its been getting worst or either I'm just getting tired of compensating. I know there are a little bit of variables to this (weight distribution, trim, etc.)

But have any of you guys fiddled with the trim tabs. I know that I need to bend the appropriate one down with the crescent wrench, plan on doing this. If I'm wanting to get it to alter its pull right tendancy then I need to bend the back left tab down slightly (if i'm looking at it straight on, behind the boat, motor in front of me)? And would it be a 1/4 inch bend like you would if it was bouncing? My manual tells me that I should be able to relax my arm/hand comfortably at full speed, but as it stands now, regardless of load i'm compensating for the hard right pull. Ideas and thoughts from guys that have adjusted the tabs? Read that this is a problem with the 3 blades. Just wanting to confirm what i've read. Thanks!

I had that same problem with my 23 GDSD. On the back of the skeg, it has a bend in it. Bend that not the trim tabs. At least thats what I did to remedy it. The trim tabs help keep the prop in the water if it starts poping out the water when trimmed up

If handle is pushing into you, then bend it more. If it's pulling away, straighten it out some. Another thing to consider is the prop wear. A worn GD prop has the tendancy to cause tiller torque (so I've heard).

Thanks for the help guys, I attempted to bend it with a standard 6 inch crescent last night, yeah that aint happening. Need to make a run to the hardware store to get a big 12-15 inch wrench (thats what she said). Man that skeg comes with quite the left bend out the factory. Props fine, it has hardly any wear. Was reading the updated manual online and it said that this bend in the skeg is standard and bending is generally the case ever since they switched out from 2 to 3 blade prop. Going out tomorrow morning for a hunt, intend to get it solved tomorrow will report the results.

bahahaha, your name must be Jerome or Jabreal.... Roughly how much did you bend it and I'm assuming you did this off the bat? We talking a slight turn or did you practically straighten it out?
