I am in the process of buying a used mud buddy sport that is a tall transom but my boat is a short transom. I wanted to see if anyone is interested in trading before I started adding on to the transom |

Is there an advantage to the tall? I t doesn't seem like there would be anymore reach or ability to dig deeper |

how close to the water do you like your motor? |

I just want it to be where it will work the best. The motor I'm getting is a tall transom which if I'm not wrong is designed for a 21" transom, my transom height is 16". I think that's gonna be way too low in the water |

it performs best when it is matched short to short tal to tall. Most people prefer the tall transom because it reduces back splash and you motor is further away from the water |

I'm really not worried about how far the motor it's self is from the water. The only advantage I could see from that is the boat could sink in 5" more water before drowning out. I just felt it was easier to swap parts than to weld the boat, but don't mind doing either. After reading the replies it seemed lik there was a performance difference between the two |

I was just trying to figure out what the x2-x10 was all about. Seems like there was a pretty good reason for staying with the tall transom the way you said that |

ok come back and i will tell you what to do when you motor floods. if you are to stubborn to hear the truth then you have what is coming. I am not saying that it is guaranteed to happen, but that one time you hit the bank a little to hard or your trailer goes off a steep ramp. you will remember |

Think about this, with a short transom you are 4" closer to sinking ALL THE TIME vs a tall transom. Rolling up on a stump or stopping on the wrong wake can make the back of the boat go under with one of these heavy motors. Build the transom up to match the motor and be happy dammit! |
