I am trying to remove the crankshaft pulley on a go devil surface drive engine. Tried using a conventional pulley puller and have already damaged the pulley. It has "taper lock" printed on the pulley housing. Obviously I am not familiar with this type of pulley system and info would be greatly appreciated!! Thanx |

Search it. You talking about the top pulley that the belt sits on? There's 2 Allen head bolts, take them out. Put one back in the empty hole(there's only 3) and crank that bitch down. Its a 3 pc set up, and cranking that bolt will push the main ring back, and the two middle pieces will fall out or become loose enough to pull out. Good luck |

you can also use a big socket that will sit on the gear itself and not the ring around the gear. make sure all set screws are out and hit the socket with a hammer. Those taper locks get siezed and i dont care what kind of allen wrench you have it just wont work. If your good at swinging a hammer you can start out by tapping on the edge of the gear and usually it breaks loose without having to beat it. Just needs that shock to break it loose. I use this method more than the way the gear was designed to be taken off, if you do hit the ring it can be bent back with an adjustable wrench or channel locks. good luck! |
