Post subject:  Weird Prop Sound

I an new to surface drives and one thing I have noticed is a slapping sound.... cha cha cha cha cha...but really fast and loud. I have the tilt set so the prop is running half in and half out of the water and it sounds like the prop is slapping the water when it goes back in. Is this normal? Prop is an 11x10 from ron hill. If I set the trim for the prop to just break the surface of the water, the sound is very minimal.

There is a slapping sound because there is a sharp, pitched, piece of metal "slapping" the water. Its called the propeller. You won't hear it when trimmed down cause the whole prop is surrounded by water and not continuously breaking The surface and going back in. Remember the little wind up duckie you used to play with in the tub? The one that u let go and his feet come in and out of the water making a slapping sound? Same shit , it just powers your boat now. Hope this gives you that warm and fuzzy feeling.

Thank you. Yes, I built the frame. I didn't do the welding but all of the machining and fabrication. In the process of building another one.
