new guy need help with sealing lower unit
well in usual fasion for my brother and i, we decided to build a few mud motors just before duck season. well they both worked for a few minutes lol. anyways it is a surface drive style with a centrifugal clutch and v-belt drive. i am using trailer wheel bearings (tapered bearings) and hub seals. this is not working as well as i had hoped. Ive been searching for good ideas and right now im pretty much just exhausted from hours of googling. should i just run some brass bushings on my prop shaft? also i started this build with a 3 hp briggs engine i had laying around and now im picking up a 13 hp honda to install on it. any ideas would be greatfully appreciated.
now that i have made a motor i am going to be buying a real boat this year, my dads 50 year old paper thin row boat is no longer an acceptable boat.
I will take some better pictures tonight to post them up. but here it is so you can get an idea
