 Prodrive reverse gear
Ok guys, buddy of mine having problems. The prodrive auto reverse consists of 2 gears. A stationary gear, which is mounted to the lower unit and an actuation gear which is controlled by the hydraulic ram. His stationary gear had some broken teeth and is not allowing it to spin around in reverse. So for now, he keeps it going forward. He has ordered the gear from KP but didn't want them to install and miss out on the season. So we decided to tackle ourself. So I guess the first question is, how and what would be the best way to get to the gear? I assume either pulling the block or dropping the lower unit and tower to get to it. Either way, I've never done either. Needs to be a quick turnaround if possible.

 Re: Prodrive reverse gear
If I were your buddy, I'd call PD and chat with Peck about this.

Your going to have to lift the power head. No two ways about it.

 Re: Prodrive reverse gear
I'd let H&H handle it. Yea, you'll pay a little more, but Mike is usually pretty quick and it'll be done right.

 Re: Prodrive reverse gear
Just so u know, Peck re-built my whole lower unit and replaced both reverse gears on my motor in 1 day last week. Dropped it off Monday and it was ready to go Tuesday around 9 am.

 Re: Prodrive reverse gear
Yeah, he's back in the game now. It actually worked well this weekend because he needed to leave early and I stayed to continue the slaughter. So he had his own chit to get back to landing.
