Is it just me or is this factory prop wearing down real fast! I know there's another post about this but I can't find it. I bought this motor new bout a month ago and have 17 hours on it and the prop looks like leading edge is wearing fast! Is there another prop that would be better? Well I know there is but witch one? |

Stick with the stock prop. Are you running alot of sand or something that will kill a prop |

Don't matter what prop you have you put it in sand it's gonna eat it up. |

the factory gt prop is the all around best performing prop for the gt. it is also the quickest wearing out mofo i have ever seen...it aint just u! the mb big blade is thicker and last longer but it wont hang with the gt wheel in performance..... on a gt,anyway....or maybe i should say....on my gt,on my barge, from my experience. for me....adding pitch to the worn props left me with a worn prop that had too much pitch....imagine that ![]() seriously,it would do ok but when you went to trim up to get the "extra"rpms....nothing doin. the only thing i have found to work is to add welds or "meat" back in the blades where they are worn. but when u do this it will wear even faster than original... on my boat i can tell when the prop is on its way out when it starts throwing the roostertail to the port a certain way...i know it wont be long. i use a mb big blade when im loaded down bowfishing...it didnt do good trimmed up so i got my prop man to knock some set-back out of it and take a lil pitch out,and i run it submerged....works good for that. the prop game is the devil.... ![]() |

it all depends on the boat in my opinion. im running a big blade on my gt and see much better performance bottom and top end |

U can send them to metal improvements in Broussard and have them hardened to 40 rc and they'll last a little longer. Mine was completely burnt in 22 hours. Put 20 hours on the MB prop and only had 1/8" of wear running same conditions. |

A well known prop shop up here in Oshkosh did some testing of the ProDrive and Gatortail props and designed a new prototype for each one that was better. The downfall was they where made out of a military alloy which in the end would have been very costly to the consumer. |

Post subject: | Re: Gator tail prop ? |
so the reduction of wear didnt offset more expensive alloy? |

I got 30hrs on my duals and they look bad. Paper thin and will cut you on the leading edges. I haven't been in sand and mostly ran in deep water and some mud I am thinking about trying mud buddy big blade next. |

dear fellow koolaide drinkers and cheerleaders..... please dont take offense,as i am trying to choose the right words here.... WE REALIZE THAT SAND EATS A PROP. WE REALIZE THAT SANDY CLAY DOES IT TOO. WE ALSO REALIZE THAT THE GT PROP IS THINNER. SOMEBODY SAID ITS NOT AS HARD A METAL AS OTHERS. WE ARE ASSUMING THIS CAUSES IT TO WEAR FASTER THAM OTHERS. IT WAS MENTIONED ALREADY THAT ITS THE BEST PERFORMER FOR MOST. on the count of three CHUG...1.....2...... ![]() |

That's what you get for running that mud/sand mix... Your honing that wheel of yours each time your run lol.[/quote] Maybe so but dam less then 20 hrs and its gone kinda bs and I know that they don't last in what I run but my first prop made it through the same stuff till I was at about 90 something hrs and now the I got 109 and it's gone already prob gonna try the big blade. 18/54 Uncle J / 35 GTR |

I thought the mudbuddy prop shaft was a lil bigger than the gt prop shaft |

Post subject: | Re: Gator tail prop ? |
Maybe....but I know mb wheel fits on gt shaft.....and its not real loose. If it didnt fit, it wouldn't take much filing. |

Post subject: | Re: Gator tail prop ? |
Gotta file it out some to make it fit. It's more of a pita than it's worth when you can just buy the wheel your mfg sells and be done |
