23 sd with cam, carb, crossover (heads to come in the spring) on a 1648 fisher. Its turning an 11x10 around 4200 rpm's , running just over 25mph. I'm running a 1:1.2 gear ratio. Keeping in mind that I run deep water 95% of the time, I'm thinking about the following two options.

Go to a 1:1 ratio in hopes to gain some more speed. Will this spin the prop too fast and cause me to lose speed?

Move to a big blade and lower my gear ratio back to a 1:1.5. Do you think I will gain any more speed or do you think I'll be back to where I am with my current setup?

I know moving to a true mud hull will help pick up a few mph but I don't have the money. I would like to be around 27 ~ 30mph.

I don't hit 30 with my stock 35...25+ with a 23hp is getting it pretty good.

I don't know much about them but i think clickster was able to get his 23gtr up around 27 with the mods he did. Not sure if he ever changed gears though.

Got a cousin that took his 27HP off his GD frame and mounted a 40hp on it and only gets 28 MPH So I would say your doing pretty good
