How necessary is a reverse plate on a GTR? Pros and cons for with and without?

Keeps the water off the boat that's for sure. Especially if you have a hunt deck. I need to order a second one for my second motor.

Works so good I do not know why its not standard on the GTR.

Any one knows of any cons that they would not make it standard? I know when I had added one it went from hardly any reverse power to about double the power.

Why not raise the price of motor $200 and make it standard?

Can I have a reverse plate fabricated locally, or am I just better off buying one from Gator Tai?

yea there nothing to it. few guys on here have made one. if you have access to someone that already has one take dimension and make one. i bought my gtr with one so i cant tell u how it works without one but works mighty well with it

Some folks had plates made that actually tore up their outdrive. I'm not 100% positive, but pretty sure it'll void your warranty.

Gt don't make those. They buy them

Is the one for a 35 the same as the one for the 23?

I have hesitated to get one cause seems like the grass will get hung up on it when not on plane

I hunt lake bouef alot and its loaded with hydrilla does anyone have problems with grass getting caught up in it while idleing around picking up birds

I run lake Beouf too and no grass or veg gets caught up in it , it's sits almost al the way out water trimed up, it will def viod warranty do yourself favor and get it from Calen he has done a lot of testing to get that reverse plate just right, 200 bucks ain't shit once you run one you will never take it off your boat

Will viod warranty to put a home made one on but will still be under warranty with Calen's*

There's a monkey on the drill press drilling the holes. No two revers plate holes are the same.

Yea I don't miss wearing all the mud from my motor , reverse plate is the best invention since the gator tail

I got my gt on a Friday without one and couldn't wait to order one early Monday morning! just get it its worth every penny!

You can't go wrong he will give you your money back if you like plate ( but that won't happen )
