When I start up my 23 copperhead I'm hearing a clicking sound coming from by my prop or the end of the drive shaft. Any ideas on what it could be?

Maybe the prop or end of driveshaft.

Prop rubbing on driveshaft housing.

No sound when I turn it manually. There is a gap between the prop and the housing.

Is there any play in the prop? Could be a bearing close to the end of the housing.

There is no play in the prop and I only have 7 hours on the motor so I'm hoping there isn't a bearing issue.

Buddy of mine has a 12 hp copperhead and about half throttle it rattles and vibrates like hell! All sounds like it is coming from the bearing before the prop.

JB- I only notice the sound when it's at idle. It's a clicking/ grinding notice.

I would pull the prop and whatever else it took to inspect the housing/bearing/seal.

There is a trash cap held in place by a snap ring, when ran out of the water you will hear the trash cap rattle, it's loose so it'll spin when vegetation wraps around prop shaft in between prop and trash cap so seals don't tear up, when running the water dampens the sound and you won't hear the rattle.
