Got time to run my motor this weekend and put the 9x9 on there. I was running a 8x4 hill before. The motor is a heavily modified predator 212. From what the kart guys numbers come to I should be pushing 15hp. The guys at hill said the 9x9 would work for surface drive but after what I saw this weekend it won't. I have to run the prop submerged completly or it will blow out. Its slow getting on step and running it submerged I only get around 12mph. I threw the 8x4 back on and get 20mph and jumps out the hole. It runs good with the 8x4 but I need a bigger prop for more grip. The 8x4 just blows out in mud and wont grab. Ive read on here that most guys run the 9x9 on 7hp with a 1to5 ratio which Im running. The 9x9 looks more like a surface prop than the 8x4. Do I just need to run the longtail props?

I'm in the same situation, I only have the 9x9 and it bogs down as soon as it goes completely under, my motor is modded predator too, if you keep the prop near the surface it keeps the rpms up

after about 2 hours of trying to get it to run right i finally got it to grab with a little more than half the prop in the water. took about 100yards and when i got it to grab on the surface it threw about 5 gals of water back in the boat. i can turn it underwater but it just runs like shit. the 8x4 i run with half the prop out the water and throwing a good rooster tail.

I have a dixie frame too. He went ahead and put a 9x9. Seen a guy with a 9x6 and he said it was perfect for that frame with the modded predator. I've got the stage 3 kit from nr racing which should give it around 12-14 HP. Just can't figure out why the motor is dropping to only 16-1700 rpms and not over 1700 when submerged

That thing looks good, will upload a video from today, went by myself and it ran a lol better after playing with the trim, curious as if a 9x6 would be much different than a 9x9?

yeah you should be flying with that rig. i get 20-21 on a 1436alumnicraft. with the stock briggs i was getting 15 light and 13 two men. there is no doubt its the prop. as soon as i get in touch with hill and get the props swapped out ill let you know how it runs. did you fab up your pipe yourself? loos good.

Yeh that will work, I'm going to call around tomorrow and see if I can get it swapped out for a 9x6, hoping that's better, debating on the 8x4 not too sure though. Yeh I made the pipe myself, not much to it at all

Yeh I ended up ordering on this past wed and got it yesterday. All of the way from California to South Carolina in 3 days from hill marine, you may have some shipping issues. Hoping to try it out tomorrow

yeah no doubt they make a good product but customer service is kinda lacking. before i ordered the 9x9 i sent an email asking if it was a surface piercing prop. never got a reply so called them and guy told me it was designed for longtails. a week later they finally responded to the email saying it was a surface drive prop. after i sent my prop they called me the next week asking where did i order my prop from because they had to record of it. i even included the original invoice. the 9x9 i ordered came in, in 4 days.

Supercajun where did you get your wheel for your trim adjustment and how did you mount it?

its a trim handle off my prodrive from when i converted to hydraulic trim. the 5/8 all thread fits the id of the handle perfect. just drill a hole through the all thread and put a bolt through to hold it to the handle. prodrive still uses these handles so you could get one from them.
