The other day when we were teal hunting, I noticed when we pulled up at the blind and I trimmed my motor out of the water, the gear box part of the lower unit was steaming, I put my hand on it and it wasn't scalding hot, but it was pretty warm.. And yes, Lu oil has been recently changed, seals are good, and everything is greased, any suggestions? I know differentials in trucks get hot so maybe this is normal and it was the first time I've noticed it. |

413 hours on mine and I never touched the knuckle. You have me curious now. I will definitely touch mine after the 40 minute run to the camp. Will report back findings if I remember. And if I burn myself its your fault. |

I have noticed the same thing on mine when making long runs or if I have been in deep mud for a while. I have never noticed steam though. I just played it of that while gears are spinning they produce heat and warm the oil in the LU causing the housing to heat up. |

Truck diffs usually range 180-220 degrees normal op temp. If youre not hearing a bearing screaming or nothing, prob nothin to worry about. |
