Had a slight wobble in my clutch a little while back on my PD. Decided to take the power head off to check it out. Found the bearing in the top half of my clutch to be bad. As you all know these bearings are stamped in and not removable. Taped up my wire and chucked it up in my lathe and turned out the stamped edges with a boring bar and pressed out the bearing. Cool. Now I can replace the bearing and salvage a good clutch. I am a cheap bastard sometime!  |

Thrifty I think is the word....lol Good job. I used to run a CNC lather for a living. I appreciate pictures like this more than most...haha |

Don't think there will be enough room for a snap ring. A normal snap ring that size will probably be too thick. I guess I could thin one down in the grind shop at work. Ha! I may just peen the edge over like the factory did. The bearing probably won't fail again for a long time. Why couldn't the manufacturer charge us .50 cent more and put one in there from the beginning? And I thought I was cheap! Both my lathes at home are spanish... e-manuel! (Manual) |

Been putting new bearings in the Warner clutches for a long time - no need to clean the peen marks up, the bearing will just press right out, then press in and re-peen the new bearing... It is a lot more fun playing with the "fancy tools" though...

Hell I wouldn't worry about it, the clutch spacer/sleeve and the cranks PTO shaft bolt and washed will hold it all together. |
