WAS THINKING THAT IF YOU COULD DESIGN A PROP WITH A PLASTIC OUTLINE THAT WOULD RUN AROUND THE EDGE OF THE PROP IT WOULD LAST ALOT LONGER. |

Give it a shot man....just remember everything has its ups and dowsn. NOW ALL U JACK LEGS WHO JUMP ON THE BOYS IDEA......IF EVERYONE IN THE GOOD O USA THOUGHT AND ACTED LIKE YOU.......WELL WE WOULD STILL BE RIDING HORSES AND YOU WOULD NOT BE AN INTERNET BAD ASS WOULD YOU!!!!! Every new generation does somthing that the past generation say will never work. Thats why we learn somthing everyday. Why dont we just give good advice and encourage eachother so we can all get better. Look at GT and Aucoin boats. They are both fresh at it and changing things to make it better. When JD built the first EXTREAM hull how many of us said to ourself....WTF is that guy doing? Now GT is taking it to the next level so we all can gain. Aucoin builds u a boat that you want. If you want a dragster he got you covered if you want a tank he got it. Aucoin learns everyday what to do for different results and some of his ideas im sure some said it will never work. But he tried it and made it work. my .02 cents. Anythin is posable! |

THAT IS A CRAZY IDEA BUT IF YIU COULD GET A PLASTIC THAT IS HARD ENOUGH IT PROBABLY WOULD HELP WITH THE WEARING OF YOU PROP BUT IT PROBABLY WOULD BE SOMETHING YOU WOULD HAVE TO KEEP REAPPLYING BUT HEY THAT IS NOT A BAD IDEA. I WOULD THING THAT IF YOU COULD GET STAINLESS AND TUNGSTEN TO MAKE UP TOGETHER IT WOUL BE A BETTER IDEA ![]() |

No chit on the hydrogen. That's old news. The first internal combustion engine to run hydrogen was designed in 1807, yes I said 1807. |

I tried a ceramic coating that is used on impellor pumps and blades. It is used in quarries and sewage plants and such. It lasted about 5 minutes. The RPMS are so much higher than on a pump of that type. There is another grade of coating with ceramic beads in it. Might be worth a try but it's expensive. |

Tungsten doesn't do very well under blunt force or hard impacts. it work better in larger industial situations for cutting, If these props would just be used for grinding it might work, But on the thin edge of a blade the first time you struck something hard it would chip right off. If you think about it, you wouldn't want a hammer made out of it! |

As for as plastic or UHMW I really don't see anything like that working. besides being soft they melt at a much lower temperture than say carbon or stainless steel. These props wear from friction and friction produces heat. Now it does have me thinking about a show I watched the other night on ancient sword making. They used clay to protect from the ridge to the back of the blade during tempering. this technique allowed just the leading edge to be tempered/hardened and the rest of the blade remained softer to prevent the blade from breaking. Pretty interesting. You'd have to do your homework to get the right heat and temper with out it being to brittle. but its something to think about. ![]() |
