Post subject:  Help...GTR reverse parts??

I called gator tail to purchase a new master cylinder for the reverse on my GTR 35. They told me it was like 120$. Then i asked about replacing the two pads and they gave me a price of 130$ for the two pads. This all seems waaayy to high. Anybody know of any other way to get these parts. Maybe a part number for the pads so i can get them at a local four wheeler shop or something. Maybe any universal motorcycle brake handle will work in place of gator tails handle? Just a thought cause those prices are insane. Any knowledge any one might have would be awesome!!

Thanks,
*****

Were you quoted for a new caliper with pads? I upgraded to the gen 4 setup, which consisted of the 2 caliper halves with pads, the aluminum block, a new brake line and all the hardware for not that much more than that.

What caliper setup do you currently have?

That's a rusty bitch....probably ought to do something to stop it from rusting completely out.

Yes it has been used a lot. Right now its useless. I just dont wanna spend 200 to fix something that should be 60 bucks total or less

And to answer the OP, those calipers are MCP 1375's. Use google and you can find pads or calipers with pads online. I can't help you with the master cylinder though.

You gotta remember giga is use to having to give a serial number and a DNA sample to get a part for his GD. Being able to order parts online probably blows his mind

either step up to the plate and pay or go to dennis kirk and try and match the parts. They look by the picture to be ATV pads and calipers. My Arctic Cat ATV and snowmobile has the same brakes on it - the only thing is I had to lay the thing (ATV) on it's side for an hour to gravity bleed it. My other snowmobile a 1978 has a cable operated caliper that works as good as the hydraulic. A loaded mechanical (cable) caliper with mount is $29.99 and would eliminate the hydraulics (one less thing to go wrong).

But a guy really has ask himself is spending his time looking for "cheaper" parts really worth the effort, time and heart ache to save a couple bucks?

Buckshot is looks like you have the first Gen setup, brake pads are in the $30 range. You can buy aftermarket pads by cross referncing them at an ATV dealer/shop.

To answer the question about upgrading to the Gen4 setup, it can be done but he'll have to get another clutch cover housing cause the Gen 4 mounting Plate setup is wider therefore they had to revamp the clutch cover. And there is some drilling involved.

Sometimes its not a matter of sending the right parts, sometimes the people ordering parts don't convey clearly what they need. I've ran into that a couple of times. As long as you tell them the year and the frame code off of the motor they will send the right parts.
